Albert Tran

With 7 years of Taekwondo (1st Degree Black-Belt) and 2 years of Capoeira, Albert was an accomplished martial artist since his teenage years. He started Wing Chun in 2018 with Brian as a founding member of the Rutgers University Ving Tsun Club. Since then, he has accumulated nearly a decade of experience. Albert trained with Philipp Bayer and the Ving Tsun Kung Fu Association Europe in Switzerland 2023 for for Brian’s certification. He was also an assistant instructor at our seminar/workshop in Tokyo, Japan.

Albert served as the 2nd President of the Rutgers Club in 2020, after his graduation, he served as its 2nd Instructor; directly succeeding Brian each time. After bringing the club to new heights, he ended his tenure in May 2025. He still trains regularly, and serves as a role-model for students and instructors alike across the entire Initiative. Known for his raw speed and ability to make decisions under pressure; he guides students on the logic of Wing Chun, and how to determine which options are available and how to optimize their choice of movement. When he’s not training in Central Jersey or at our workshops, he’s a Senior Programmer at Qualcomm and an all-round, “chill-guy”.
