Alex Lopez

Alex started his martial arts journey in Taekwondo (1st Degree Black-Belt) and 8 years of boxing. Having met Brian back in 2013, he has since spent the vast majority of his time training Wing Chun. Alex is not just a Day 1 Supporter, but he was also integral to Brian’s journey, being one of his most consistent and reliable training partners back when he was just a teenager. Whether it was training in NJ Karate Club in Freehold on Friday nights until 1AM or scrapping in parking lots and basketball courts, Brian could always count on Alex to run the fade. Alex is perhaps the only person who can truly say he was with Brian every step of the way, whether it was Brian opening schools or going to Europe to train with Philipp Bayer back in 2019.

Known as “OG” and “Iron Palms” Lopez in class, he has become a go-to resource by students over the last 12 years due to his incredibly high fight IQ and over a decade of Wing Chun expertise. Alex has trained domestically, and is also one of the few members here that have trained overseas with Philipp Bayer and the Ving Tsun Kung Fu Association Europe. While he seems really rough at first, he has fostered the growth of every student that has come through the doors of the school in Central Jersey.

Although he works a government job, we can promise that he’s not a fed. He’s an Engineer of Construction for the State of New Jersey and an NJIT Alum.
